'Eight Moons' was recorded as one contiguous group improvisation during a recording session that took place in Bushwick, Brooklyn in August 2020.

The title of 'Eight Moons' emerged from listening to the piece after being recorded instead of directing the improvisation beforehand. The image of eight moons emerged as a symbolic concept to describe heavenly bodies exerting forces on human behaviors and whose impact we might feel but lack the capacity to fully understand.

Counting moons is also an ancient method of measuring time, and time itself is a human tool of measurement whose meaning and measure have become distorted for so many during the period of global pandemic acutely experienced while recording this improvised work.
